Science Research Program

The Ossining Science Research Program is a three-year course that offers students the opportunity to conduct novel, independent research at the graduate level. Science Research began in 1998 with only three enrolled students. Today, the program has expanded to include over 100 students, each with unique projects in a wide variety of scientific and humanities disciplines. During their enrollment in the program, students can earn up to 12 college credits through the University of Albany. The program is directed by teachers, Ms. Ariadne Prior-Grosch and Ms. Valerie Holmes.

If you are currently a Freshman at OHS and are interested in joining the Ossining High School Science Research Program, please be on the lookout for information sent out via O-Blasts and/or ask your science teachers for more information. Ms. Prior-Grosch and/or Ms. Holmes will visit each freshmen science class (usually in February) giving a short presentation on the program and providing the application to those who are interested. From there, interviews are conducted, and acceptances are mailed out by the end of May.

Regeneron Science Talent Search:

The Regeneron Science Talent Search (STS) is open to 12th grade students that have have pursued research in an individual capacity. The competition is based on a Paper submission and entrance forms must be postmarked by Mid-November. 300 students are selected as semi-finalists in Mid-January, and 40 Finalists are selected and present their research at the National level in Washington D.C. in early March.

Deadline to Enter (seniors only): November 6th, 2026

Junior Science Humanities Symposium:

The Junior Science Humanities Symposium is open to all students that have pursued any area of research. High school seniors may enter for a chance to present research via PowerPoint and potentially move on to the NY State level. Potential winners can move to the NY State Level. Seniors and Juniors may present research via Poster for the chance to win local prizes but cannot move on to the NY State level.

Upstate JSHS will be held in January 2026, Date TBD.

Regeneron WESEF:

The Westchester Science & Engineering Fair (WESEF) encourages high school students to participate science by providing a forum for showcasing the outstanding research for this living in Westchester & Putnam counties of New York State and sponsoring the top students from the fair to advance to the REGENERON International Science & Engineering Fair (ISEF).

Regeneron WESEF will be held on Saturday March 14th, 2026.
The Regeneron WESEF Awards Ceremony will be March 18th, 2026

GENIUS Olympiad:GENIUS Olympiad is an international high school project competition in science, engineering, art, short film, music, creative writing, robotics and business. 

Paper Submissions due in early April.

Regeneron Intel International Science and Engineering Fair:

The Regeneron ISEF is the world’s largest international pre-college science competition. Held annually, the competition provides a forum for more than 1,700 high school students from over 70 countries to showcase their independent research. The Regeneron ISEF is the premiere science competition in the world exclusively for students in grades 9–12.

Regeneron ISEF will be held in Phoenix, Arizona May 9-15th, 2026.
